In the coming days, the Ministry of Public Works will tender the informative study of the Madrid-Extremadura high-speed line project referring to the section that connects the capital of Spain with the limit of the provinces of Toledo and Cáceres. One of the first steps for the AVE to Extremadura to become a reality outside the territory of this autonomous community, in which all the works on the route have been carried out so far. High speed will reach the border with Portugal but it will still take almost a decade for it to happen.
The deadlines for preparing the aforementioned study will last for two years from its award, which will take place shortly before the end of the year. That is, its conclusion will be known when the present legislature is drawing to a close. From then on, tenders will have to be launched to proceed with the construction of the route and the works themselves, which places the reality of the complete line between Madrid and Badajoz in the long term.
