Almost 1.1 million euros so that the trains that circulate through Extremadura will once again have a workshop where they can carry out the corresponding maintenance and be fixed when they suffer a breakdown. This is Renfe’s objective, which aims to rebuild the Badajoz station workshop within two and a half years, which had to be abandoned due to deficiencies detected on a visit by the Labor Inspection, and which is currently being found practically in ruins.

The project will be carried out in three phases according to the Action Plan managed by Renfe, to which it has had access TODAY. In this text, it is recalled that model 598 and 599 trains provide service in the region, whose maintenance is carried out mainly at the facilities that exist in Cerro Negro, Madrid.

In the case of the first model, it is carried out through the investee company Actren, and in the second through own resources, the public company. It must be remembered that the Talgo stopped circulating in Extremadura in December 2010.

“The operating conditions require a frequent level of control to ensure operation without significant breakdowns, which together with a very demanding service such as that existing in the Extremadura area, and a current operating regime that means that trains in some In case they only go through the maintenance base every seven or more days, it makes supervision difficult and quick action when failure symptoms are detected, ”reads the Plan that Renfe manages.
