Improvements in the Extremadura railway service. Renfe will offer Talgo trains in the community from the first quarter of 2018. In principle, it is proposed that they allow the regional capitals to be united with Madrid, although there are still many questions to be defined.
This novelty implies that the Madrid-Plasencia-Cáceres-Mérida-Badajoz line, considered medium distance, is now treated as long distance. This will allow passing from regional trains to vehicles that offer greater comfort.
According to Renfe on its website, the Talgo product has recognized prestige and is valued positively by travelers. Currently, several technological generations of these trains coexist, but the most current ones have a pendulum system that increases comfort during the trip and allows reaching higher speeds. In addition, they have cafeteria, music and video services.
The decision to recover this product in the region has already been made, but there are still many questions to be defined. It is planned that a meeting will be held next week between those responsible for Renfe and the Junta de Extremadura to try to close the conditions of the new service.
