FCC Construcción, through its company specialized in railway works, Contracts and Sales ( Convensa ), has won two new contracts for the maintenance of infrastructure and track of the conventional rail network in the area center and south of the country, including Extremadura .

According to company sources, the amount of the contracts amounts to more than 95 million euros and the term of execution of the contracts is 24 months. It affects conventional train lines in Extremadura, Andalusia and Madrid and in the Ávila, Soria, Segovia, Guadalajara, Toledo and Ciudad Real provinces.

The main objectives of the maintenance contracts are to preserve the safety and reliability of the lines and to achieve greater control over incidents.

Convensa will develop an inspection program , as well as a set of activities that facilitate and improve rail circulation , acting both on the platform and on the elements of the superstructure (rails, sleepers, ballast, among others).

Maximum response time

Likewise, maximum response times will be established in the event of incidents and a preventive and corrective maintenance service will be carried out to guarantee that the facilities are suitable to assure operators of the correct provision of railway services.

The aforementioned contracts obtained by Convensa are part of a macro services contract awarded by the Administrator of Railway Infrastructures (Adif) for the maintenance of infrastructure and track of the approximately 11,000 kilometers of the conventional network and more than 1,200 kilometers of the metric gauge network for an amount of 322.8 million euros.

Currently, Convensa develops the Madrid-Extremadura High-Speed ​​Line platform , on the Arroyo de la Charca-Grimaldo section; the Vilariño-Campobecerros section of the AVE Madrid-Galicia; railway accesses to the Port of Barcelona; and the eastern variant of Valladolid; maintenance of the Madrid-Seville high-speed line.

Also, the maintenance of the Madrid Metro network ; the renewal of the track and the conditioning of the infrastructure of Line 9 of the Tram network of Alicante of Railways of the Generalitat Valenciana.

All these contracts add up to an execution budget of more than 330 million euros.
