The works for Extremadura to finally have a new rail network continue to progress. The Minister of Development, Íñigo de la Serna, yesterday took advantage of the day in the region, marked by the demand for a decent train, to reaffirm his commitment to Extremadura and “with the need to improve railway infrastructure,” he told this newspaper.
In fact, the minister announced that the execution of the new corridor that will allow the first circulation of diesel trains and later of high speed, will be a few months ahead of schedule. It was the Prime Minister himself, Mariano Rajoy, who pointed out last April in Seville, during the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the AVE to the Andalusian capital, that the Extremadura high-speed platform would be ready by the end of 2019. The rhythm of the works is so intense that we are in a position to say that the deadlines will be reduced; the completion of the works will no longer be at the end of 2019 but in the summer of 2019 », announced the minister yesterday.
