This is a ‘performance’ organized, on the occasion of the commemoration of the Extremadura Day (September 8), by the ‘Milana Bonita’ Citizen Platform , which has been recently created to claim a decent train for the Extremaduran community.
Many people have participated in this action, taking the train early in Plasencia to the Madrid Atocha station, where they have gotten off in their outfits from the Mario Camus movie ‘Los Santos Inocente’ b>, cardboard suitcases, baskets, refrigerators and even strings of chorizo.
After getting off the train, the participants have unfurled a large flag of Extremadura and have traveled the Atocha station chanting slogans such as ‘Renfe, listen, milanos en la lucha’ , or ‘Worthy trains for Extremadura’, accompanied by popular songs, and to the rhythm of drums, flutes, tambourines or cowbells, to the amazement of the users who were meeting.
The objective of this protest action is to make known in Atocha that the trains that run on the Extremaduran tracks “are the same ones that can be seen in the film” of ‘The Holy Innocents’, and that the stations, tracks, services < b> “in many cases they are those of the early twentieth century , and even some of the sleepers and rails of the tracks have already completed more than 125 years of service,” explains the platform.
Once this performance has been carried out, the members of the ‘Milana Bonita’ Platform will take the train back at 14.43 in Atocha, which is scheduled to arrive in Plasencia at 17.50, and at 19.00 to Cáceres, “ as long as he doesn’t get damaged at some other station” , they ironic from the platform.
