Renfe will put into service in the first quarter of 2018 a Talgo train that will link Badajoz with Madrid daily, which will allow “greater comfort and reliability” for users, but which will not, however, cut the travel time between both destinations.
A talgo that will make the Badajoz-Madrid tour in the morning, and return in the afternoon, and that “will provide comfort and reliability to all users from Extremadura”, since it will have different classes, video, audio or cafeteria, and also “Being a commercial service, Extremadura would be included in something that it lacks to date, which is the rate policy that Renfe has in other territories.”
This was announced by the president of Renfe, Juan Alfaro, after holding a meeting, this Tuesday in Mérida, with the Minister of the Environment and Rural, Agrarian Policies and Territory of the Junta de Extremadura, Begoña García Bernal, along with those responsible for ADIF to address issues related to the Extremadura railway.
This Talgo, which will not entail any cost for the Extremadura Regional Government, will begin to circulate in the region in the first quarter of 2018, with which Renfe intends to “respond to the concerns” that Extremadura citizens have regarding the railway service that is lends in the region.
In this sense, Juan Alfaro has considered “perfectly understandable” the “climate” generated in Extremadura after the “accumulation of incidents” that in recent months have affected railway services, and after which he has reaffirmed that the Ministry of Development ” clearly bets on Extremadura “.
