III SOUTHWEST IBERIAN CORRIDOR FORUM

The Iberian Southwest Corridor is a concept that does not exist in practice due to the lack of communication infrastructures or the minds of decision-makers and public opinion in Portugal and Spain when considering peripheral and long-term territories.

This Forum aims to identify the potential of this Corridor and mobilize the will to make the communications infrastructures that make it possible.

DIRECT OBJECTIVES:

  • Identify the Southwest Iberian Corridor as the axis linking Lisbon to Madrid, Portugal to Spain and as the basic axis of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
  • Identify and visualize the potential for development and economic and social growth of the territories included in the Southwest Iberian Corridor, in this specific case of Alentejo.
  • Define key dates that mark a roadmap for communication infrastructures that allow a transformation in the 2021-2030s. 2021 as a symbolic start date for the Lisbon-Madrid connection.

INDIRECT OBJECTIVES:

  • Identify entrepreneurs and professionals from Alentejo with emotional relationships and commercial commitments to the Iberian Southwest and promote their complicity and support to transform it into an International Development Corridor.
  • Involve in the development of the infrastructure of the Iberian Southwest all the territories involved between Madrid and Lisbon, converting them into State and Universal projects.
