On October 3 the Valencian Association of Entrepreneurs, the lobby that represents the leading companies of the Valencian Community, plans to carry out in Ifema, Madrid, the central act of its campaign to claim the Mediterranean Corridor , after having soundly landed at strategic points such as Tarragona, Murcia or Almería. The date was set months before the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont , announced his intention to call the referendum on independence on October 1 and he wanted the fate that both acts barely are separated by 48 hours. A temporary sigh that will undoubtedly end up conditioning the scenario in which Vicente Boluda , Juan Roig , Federico Félix , will move Federico Michavila and the rest of the large party, which has always included an important representation of Valencian, Catalan, Andalusian and Madrid businessmen. At least 1,000 are expected.
The demand for an infrastructure like this, which aims to connect the entire Spanish Mediterranean arc, involves changing the traditional philosophy that has lit the infrastructures in Spain, which has been radial since the time of Carlos III – from Madrid, kilometer zero, towards the capitals province- and almost never circulate.
But, in addition, it proposes connecting territories as distant as Andalusia and Catalonia, with the relevant strategic role that geography gives to the Valencian Community, the backbone of the corridor and the most valuable instrument of approximation of both territories.
For a long time, the work went from drawer to drawer and, although it appeared contemplated in the State Budgets, it did not really have an effective impulse in a very clear strategic error of the Government of Spain, which never exploited the political possibilities that this work had to bring Catalan businessmen closer to a higher strategy, such as convincing Catalan citizens that life in Spain is much better. And that in Spain, they are mostly loved.
